BROAD BASED
BLACK ECONOMIC
EMPOWERMENT
In 2003 the South African government adopted legislation to promote the 'trickling' down of wealth and opportunities to the country's poor and previously marginalised population groups.  All companies that are active in South Africa have to adhere to the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53 of 2003.

Through a system of preferential procurement the government stimulates economic growth among Black people (all people that were not classified White under apartheid). The Women's Hope Education and Training (WHEAT) Trust is an excellent partner to enhance a company's BBBEE score. WHEAT Trust can assist with the management, preferential procurement, corporate social investment and enterprise development segments of the BBBEE score card.

Enterprise development investments at WHEAT Trust can count for 1,5 times the value of the actual investment on the scorecard as we work with collectives of Black women in rural areas.
