Grantmaking

In South Africa there are thousands of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) that do not have access to formal funding. In most instances, it is the well established groups and organisations that are better positioned to source funding from corporate funders and Government departments, leaving behind a vast number of informal community groups and organisations. The reality is that the majority of the overlooked organisations are women-led, meaning that the drivers of social change are not afforded empowerment opportunities. As such, the WHEAT Women's Fund identifies this gap and serves to benefit grassroots women.

All women-led community based groups and organisations working in Southern Africa can apply for a grant. We invite groups and organisations to apply for grants that will contribute to their empowerment and development. The women-led group or organisation is responsible for identifying their needs and highlighting how the grant will contribute to the empowerment of the groups and communities.
